SYNOPSIS

In a not-so-distant future, recreational drugs are legal, Batman fights Peppa Pig in the twenty-seventh update of Stardew Valley, and any self-respecting billionaire owns a pet dinosaur. AI has killed art. Almost. Live performance has never done better.

This is the world Valerie is trying to survive in. Out-of-work performance artist and soft-core anti-capitalist, she starts her new job at Big Company convinced she has sold her soul. Her half-sister Patti is already there, a type-A robotics engineer obsessed with work, dreaming of being noticed by founder Bryan Bygge. Who promptly falls for Valerie instead. Of course.

But when the two sisters discover that Bryan plans to replace all human performers with AI robots and abandon a near-apocalyptic Earth for a private planet reserved for billionaires, they have no choice: they must work together. However dysfunctional that team turns out to be.

Dégénéré·es is an adult animated series that is warm, funny, and quietly hopeful, about the love of meaningful work, the neuroses of being thirty-something, and the question of whether artists still have a place in a world run by machines.
