HIGH WINDOWS DE PHILIP LARKIN
JOSEPHINE HART FOUNDATION
3D SHORT FILM . 1 MIN
A dizzying dive into the beauty of the images conjured up by Philip Larkin’s famous poem.
ANIMATED SHORT FILM
The Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation was established by Lord Saatchi to promote the advancement of the arts, culture, and education, with a particular focus on poetry, literature, and theater. Through The Poetry Movement, the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation presents a new approach to poetry, shaping a new relationship with words for us all. By leaping the verses off the page and embodying their lyricism in stunningly beautiful images, The Poetry Movement’s creations forge a creative space that combines the beauty of rhyme with visual inventiveness. For the launch of The Poetry Movement, Troublemakers produced three animated films based on three great poems. The first, “High Windows,” illustrates Philip Larkin’s eponymous poem. Directed by Onur Senturk, the film is an animated exploration of the boundary between life and death.

Echoing Larkin’s text, the film offers a journey between fluidity and immobility, among figures that crystallize the elements of an entire life. True to his artistic mastery of stunningly precise 3D animation, Onur Senturk navigates between figuration and abstraction, pushing the film beyond simple storytelling. Here, images take on the weight of words.
