Notre philosophie

At Troublemakers, we like to say we have the freedom to do anything and the drive to do it well. Commercials, films, series, documentaries, in animation or live action. We don't box ourselves into any format. We start with the story and look for the best way to tell it. A small project deserves the same care as a big one. And producing today also means owning what we make.

Starting with its impact. Every film leaves a carbon footprint. We're working to measure it more and more precisely, to see where we can act and to change our production habits accordingly.

We ask the brands we work with to fund tree planting to match the emissions of their productions. And we take care of the planting ourselves, in the Loiret region of France, with the support of local authorities. It's concrete. And it makes us face up to what every production leaves behind.

Producing is also about being part of an industry. We believe in an industry that is more collective and more independent. So we get involved in the organisations working to move it forward. We're members of the SPI (Syndicat des Producteurs Indépendants, the French union of independent producers).

James Hagger sits on the board of the UPC CRÉA (Union des Producteurs de Cinéma), where he chairs the Animation committee. He was also vice-president of the EPA (European Producers Association), which represents 900 European production companies.

We've also looked beyond film and TV. For several years, we were involved with the CJD (Centre des Jeunes Dirigeants, a French network of young business leaders), thinking about how to grow a company in a more responsible and more human way. In 2024, James represented France at the G20 YEA (G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance) in Brazil. Today, he is mentored through the IME (Institut du Mentorat Entrepreneurial).

The idea is to share what we've learned, exchange with others, stand up for the diversity of players in the industry and help move it forward in our own way.

We work the same way day to day. We like to build long-term relationships with writers, directors, crew and partners. No production is ever made alone. And the best ideas often come out of those conversations. That's why we keep the studio human-sized. Flexible enough to take the time to support the projects and the people behind them.

At heart, our philosophy comes down to a few simple ideas: stay curious, work together, make room for independent artists and try to leave the industry a little stronger and more responsible than we found it.
